Hey Peeps! I got this request by a close friend of mine to showcase the ways we could recycle our old outfits which are not fitting us anymore.
All of us buy those expensive dresses for a particular occasion and maybe a few months down the line we regret buying them because we were not able to utilise them anymore.
The reasons an old dress is lying idle in your wardrobe
They don’t fit us anymore
We feel they are outdated
Texture and shine of the fabric doesn’t inspire us anymore
We don’t know how to style them any differently
We don’t want to be seen in same outfit every time
Yes, these are a common girl’s problem which a guy cannot even imagine.
Or probably, they laugh at it because they cannot relate to it. But I am sure, you would have faced few of them already. And if not, you are the luckiest of all ”wink”!
My skinny days
I had bought this dress in the year 2013 from Cocopele. This was one of the expensive dresses I had bought during my college days.
I used to be super thin those days and I was teased with many names such and ostrich, matchstick, bamboo stick etc.
I have hated those comments for sure and started working out in the gym to gain optimum weight, according to my height.
You gain some, you lose some
I got the desired body but there is a hint of regret as I couldn’t fit in to my pre-loved clothes anymore!
Having donated a few of them to an orphanage, others are still lying in my closet with high hopes that some day I would reuse them.
I will be showing all of them as soon as I recycle them for myself. Let us quickly have a glance at the two looks I have carved out of this old dress.
Recycle, Reuse, Relive the memories
With overall weight gain, I have gained wider hip compared to how I was back in 2013. So this royal blue dress fits me properly on my upper body but over the hips, it was a bit too snug. Well, I decided to turn my dress into a slit top.
The first look
For the first look, I have teamed it with a pair of ice blue denims so that the dress transforns into a single shoulder slit top. To complete the look, I have clubbed it with a pair of heels and used long dangles for my ears. This gives my outfit a hint of comfort with sass.
The second look
For the second look, I have paired them with A-line skirt to create a dressy look with layers of colour. You can also choose the same or similar shade to make it look more like a dress itself.
Please share your views on how you feel about my way of recycling an old dress. I am also open for new requests on any other kind of DIY.
Hey Peeps! I am trying to evaluate as many subscription boxes as possible. Today, I am here with another subscription box to drool over for a woman who loves jewellery. I have received Shimmer Subscription Box/Bag by Frizeal this Thursday and couldn’t resist reviewing it at the earliest.
Frizeal has 3 variants of subscription box
Shimmer mini bag – Priced at Rs 549 + Rs 50 for shipping
Shimmer bag – Priced at Rs 849 +Rs 75 for shipping
Glitz bag – Priced at Rs 1349 + Rs 100 for shipping
I have received the shimmer bag. Let us check out the contents of the box.
One Afgani/ Silver Oxidised Earrings – Rs 399
One Cool Western Earring- Rs 249
One Neckpiece- Rs 349
Hair Accessories- Rs 199
One Sling Bag- Rs 499
So, the total combo value is Rs 1,695 which is available for Rs 849 through Frizeal. So essentially it is available at a 50% discount.
My Experience with the subscription box/bag
As you know, I am not a jewellery person per se. Recently, I have developed an interest in off-beat jewellery pieces. Nothing is better than a subscription option for someone like me.
It’s not that I don’t like jewellery, it has more to do with my laziness or you can say time constraint. I always feel jewellery/accessories in malls and branded stores are overpriced, so street bazaars are a perfect hunting ground.
And I rarely step into a street market as I am always running around, even on weeknds. So a subscription box with trendy jewellery is my saviour.
Frizeal subscription box contents fit the bill for a working woman or college girls.
The subscription box is really affordable.
You get a collection of trendy products.
They have 3 variants, so one can choose a box as per her budget.
Could be used as a gifting box as well.
Honestly, nothing with the products. They all are pretty and beautiful.
Will I buy this again?
Mostly yes, with festive season coming up, I can use it for gifting purpose.
Hey Peeps! Do you remember the snaps of cute hearts shaped soaps I had shared on Instagram almost a month and a half ago?
I was so smitten by their shapes that I didn’t want to use them and preserve them as mementoes!
Do you love cute toiletries just like me? I love beautiful things around me, be it the kitchen or even a bathroom. For me, these cute toiletries infuse fresh vibes in the surroundings.
My experience with Curie India
I ordered the pack of 4 soaps by Curie India. You get an option of choosing from a range. Each soap has a mild fragrance of its exotic ingredient.
Yours truly has always been a sucker for herbal and homemade products and on top of that, the heart shape was like a cherry on the cake.
I was flattered with the heart shape so picked couple of them! I went through the ingredients and their goodness and then decided to buy 4 of these dainty mounds of joy!
Bangalore’s climate is unpredictable and you could go through an annual weather cycle in a single month. So, keeping weather and my skin condition in mind, the pack of 4 different soaps looks like a good bet.
The 4 Pack combo
I got the following unique soaps in the pack.
Strawberry Crush Soap
A handcrafted soap made with hand-picked strawberries, Strawberry Crush Soap is rich in Vitamin C and Folic acid which aids in skin lightening and cell regeneration.
Coffee Swirl Soap
The environment is full of free radicals that wreak havoc on the skin. However, loading up skin with the antioxidants in coffee protects it and boost its natural defences.
Venus soap contains milk which is a wonderful beauty aid in addition to being the healthiest food source available. Milk is an amazing skin toner, it adds firmness to worn and torn facial tissues.
Die Hard Romantic Soap
Die hard romantic is an expression of true love. It is enriched with Olive oil which has various benefits like :
It moisturizes and fights bacteria If you’re prone to acne, using a soap made with olive oil may help decrease your acne by killing off the bacteria that causes the acne.
They are 100% natural.
Mild fragrance keeps the bathing experience exotic.
Keeps odour away from the body.
These soaps lather up lesser than other handmade soaps and would probably last longer than others.
You get to pick and choose according to your skin type and any skin concern.
The price is towards the higher side.
Price: Rs 150/soap bar and Rs 600 for a gift pack of four.
My Idea behind buying this soap again
I can buy them for the personal and common bathrooms. I am sure the shape of soaps would bring a smile to my guest’s face.
They are super cute so are really apt as a gift to cherish and remember.
Since they have a variety of soaps I can keep trying new ones every month.
Everyone in the family has a different skin concern and the variety of Curie soaps have something for everyone.
Hey There! I really loved and appreciate the way we all have celebrated 71st Independence Day of India. And may be tomorrow or a week later we will not even discuss it. Maybe freedom is interpreted in a personal way by everyone.
Since childhood, I have seen and faced a lot but never raised my voice against them because that was not my problem. If I got the freedom to choose my education and freedom to marry the guy I like, my problems were solved.
Why should I bother about billions of women who have faced so much throughout years – be it before or after the independence of India? So, today I want to know how are those women independent and why should they celebrate the Independence Day?
Yes, I am grateful for the fact we are not under British rule anymore. Still, the thought that women in our country barely have respect, kills me from inside.
I have to talk a lot but today I would restrict myself to just three things which might bestow an iota of liberty to Indian women and of course, the freedom to choose.
Freedom to choose your attire after marriage
I know a lovely couple who dated each other for 10 years and they could not marry each other. Once their wedding got fixed, the guy started insisting her on wearing Indian ethnic attire because she was supposed to stick to that attire among his family members.
I want to ask the guy whether he wasn’t aware that she loves western outfits and she is comfortable wearing them? He dated her for 10 years while she used to wear what she loves. Why should married women give up on their preferences and start living up to someone else’s expectation?
Freedom to choose your work after marriage
I remember those days when my sister and I were in 12th standard and my grandmother forced my sister to meet a guy and his family for her wedding. She wanted my sister to get settled before she died.
I am asking, Why? She was not even 18 when she was forced to meet them. I had a little hope inside me that somehow I will convince the guy’s family that she is too young for their son.
Trust me, fate was on my side and they got shocked after looking at my sister and said she was too young. She needed to finish her higher studies first and choose a career.
They were okay with the fact if the girl does not want to work after the wedding but they wanted her to finish her higher education. That evening opened my family members eyes.
With the grace of God, ever since, each and every woman in my family has had a chance to choose her career. Do you believe that each woman in India should have right to choose her career goals?
Educate your son
I have been listening to “ If you educate a woman she will educate the whole family”, Agreed. But, have you ever thought that if we educate each male member in the family to behave decently with women and to respect them, will change the way women has been treated?
And Madhuri Dixit’s video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Nj99epLFqg “Ladke nahi rote”. Both of them gave very powerful messages I am sure at least 50% of us would have liked that video. But I want to know how many of you have implemented it?
If you answer few of these unanswered questions and work towards the betterment of womanhood, I am sure we will have better India tomorrow.
I don’t have anything against anyone I just wish for a better India and need your help for that. Do you promise me to work for our better future?
Hey there! Thank you for showing so much love for the glimpses of my contemporary saree look in Instagram. My initial aim was to showcase Panigha India’s recent collection through this post.
However, on receiving the package, I had a change of mind, the post should have a deeper relevant meaning. It wasn’t because the options to pair them are limited to ethnic outfits.
On the contrary, any silver handmade ethnic jewellery is versatile and pairs with most outfits with ease.
Is beauty relevant?
So how was I going to make it “deep” and “relevant”? Why, in the first place do we wear jewellery? Obviously, to look beautiful!
Now, to quote the cliche, is beauty skin deep? Why can’t strong and empowered be equally pleasing to the eyes? Has years of conditioning ingrained a few stereotypes in us?
Yes, I am wearing a saree with suitable makeup. However to make a point, I am pairing the saree with a turtle neck top and boots. But wait a minute, aren’t these so called symbols of strength and empowerment?
The gender debate
I had a few thoughts crossing my mind while putting together the look and getting dressed. Here I was trying to add strength and character to my look, however, aren’t these the hallmark of masculinity?
So was I trying to ignite a raging debate on felinity vs masculinity? No, absolutely not!
I am not here prove that either men or women are superior. We all are unique with unique qualities and skillset.
Of course we women are physically weaker plus we have monthly problems which pulls us down. We still get up, dress up and show up.
Equals in a complicated world
I just want to say that all my readers – be it a man or woman, please stop fighting over oneupmanship and prove yourself to others. It’s fruitful to work on your strengths and help each other to grow.
Through this post I specially want to give message to the new and old generation – stop defining a man and woman’s role in their life. A man or a woman cannot control physical and natural things like pregnancy, periods, masculine power and strength.
But yes, we have created a much better world beyond that, where a man is trying to take care of household responsibility and woman has started stepping out of their house to run the family too.
Let us stop fighting like petty politicians and stop judging others.
Let us make it a simple world. Let there be peace!
Hope this thought would help you to improve yourself and stay out of negativity.
Hey There! I can’t express how good I feel about these brands and their products, who have lately started caring about the most unspoken/underrated problem. You guessed it right – I am speaking of women’s hygiene.

Yes, you are just 4 steps away from UTI prevention. Go ahead and order one.
Price: Rs 120 for a can of 40ml
Shelf life: 3 years
My Experience with Pee Safe
I have been travelling and staying away from home frequently. One thing I hate most about that is using public toilets. Even while shopping in malls or watching movies I get irritated while using public toilets and the reason is hygiene.
Since I have started using Pee Safe sanitizer 90% of my problems while using the public toilet is solved. Sometimes public toilets are filthy and stinking and even after using this spray I get a yucky feeling. But that happens rarely.
The best part about this can is that it fits in the palm of your hands and can tag along with you in a small sling bag as well. I always carry this in my bag.
Will I buy Pee Safe again?
Yes, definitely I am going to buy it again. It has become part of my travel life and I cannot imagine to step out without my pee safe can.
I often hear people saying so many things about two girls.
Two beautiful girls cannot be friends.
She called you and wants to meet you, I am sure she has some work!
Dude, she is jealous.
Both of them are fake. They will surely bitch about each other.
Likewise, there are so many things we girls come across about our friendship. Most of the times I ignore it but sometimes it really makes me sad when I hear a girl talking these things about other girls.
I am still in touch with my school friend and we meet whenever we can. I call her up whenever I need them. She is still my secret holder. Please stop judging girls and their friendship. We can hold a secret to ourselves. We do care about each other. And yes we do not bitch all the time.
Do you remember those lovely school days where all we had was a chocolate to share? School uniform which took us away from jealousy. Lunch time games which never made us feel stressed.
Oh! I miss them all. I wish I could celebrate my friendship day how I used to celebrate being a kid or teenager.
Why can’t we relish those things now? Where are we running to? What are we trying to prove now?
Why have we stopped doing things we used to love? Why can’t we relive those moments? Why? Why? Why?
No body can answer these questions except you. Take a look back and relive those moments. Trust me it’s going to be the best day of your life.

I have been showcasing my style statement which is casual and effortless. Often thought of trying new things and my adventurous blogging journey started lately.
Hey Peeps! How have you been? I was in pain for the last week on account of stubbing my big toe.
I have almost recovered and as promised on my Instagram post, here I am with an adventurous post. I label this post as an adventurous one as I rarely wear statement jewellery.
If you know me, you know
I prefer light gold jewellery for everyday use. Lately, I have realised that I cannot wear them on every occasion. Moreover, I am not that rich to buy matching real gold jewellery for all the outfits I wear.
Ever since I started blogging, my friends and followers have motivated me to try something unique and showcase different looks. A few months back, I had collaborated with Panigha India and that jewellery was admired by my generous readers.
Following up, I have tried to show ways to style uncut diamond jhumkas in my blog. The love shown by you keeps me motivated to try out more and more jewellery.
The struggle is real
This time I am trying statement jewellery – an eclectic mix of boho, choker and long chain pieces. I have been admiring these kinds of jewellery in shopping malls lately, though I hardly ever buy them.
Only sometimes, when I can’t control the urge, I step into those expensive shops and try them. It has become a bit easy to find affordable jewellery through online shopping but the gem of the lot is definitely a subscription box.
I got the current collection in the July Blingbox Subscription Box. I have paid just Rs 750 and received the collection along with 3 Fuschia products(Undereye serum, lip balm and scrub). I have already reviewed Fuschia under eye serum. You can check them out here, in case you missed it.
I feel so pretty and different trying them out and would love to try more of jewellery in future. My favourite of the lot is the navy blue necklace as I can club it with lots of my existing outfits.
Do let me know in the comment section below of your likes and dislikes.
