Red Gown for those dreamy evenings

Hey Peeps! Do you remember your transformation over the years or do you think you have been just the same? Well, I was never a girly girl in my formative years. I used to be a tomboy till I had a crush and I wanted to impress him. I have gone wrong so many times with colours, outfit selection and makeup – you name it! Experimenting with a red gown or red outfit never crossed my mind!

The passage to Red

Being a tomboy during teenage and the first few years of my college, I used to hate red. I can literally count on my fingers how many red outfits I have owned in my lifetime. I used to feel it’s too bright and never got why other girls loved this garish colour so much. It was till I got myself a beautiful red cowl neck top for a date night.

I wasn’t a makeup person back then so I remember I had gone with minimal makeup and that was just Kajal. That’s it, honestly. Just because of the bright colour, my face was glowing!

That was the day I realised “RED IS FOR EVERY WOMAN”. Ever since I have embraced red as a special colour. I am still choosy when it comes to a red outfit for a special evening.

The tryst with Nakhra

My wedding anniversary was close by and I want to feel as beautiful as my first date with him. So, I decided to go for red or any other bright colour again. I had ordered two outfits from a Haryana based boutique, NAKHRA.

I have been following them for over six months and have ordered their outfit for the first time. I was waiting for a special occasion to try out their gorgeous ensemble of ethnic and Indo-western wear. And here comes that special day! I felt so gorgeous wearing this exquisitely crafted dress.

Red Gown - Namrata Bangalore based Indian Fashion, Lifestyle, Travel & Fitness Blogger

This is how it went – when I finally decided to order something from Nakhara, I have messaged them on Instagram asking for an indo-western gown. I must admit Prathivi has a fabulous collection of outfits.

Red Gown - Namrata Bangalore based Indian Fashion, Lifestyle, Travel & Fitness Blogger

She showed me 10-12 outfits based on my ask and I fell in love with this red gown with intricate gold detailing. Off-shoulder/ broad necks are my favourite this year. I have lost count of the number of off-shoulder tops/dresses I have bought in the last few months.

Long sleeves with cutouts from the elbow make this dress stand out. It has handwork over the neck and waist which makes it look a statement gown.  And the best part of the gown is the overskirt which I love in any outfit.

Make friends with bold colours

If you hesitant to wear red/bright colours like the old me. Here are some tips for you.

  1. Never wear too much of a bright colour or red together. Avoid having the same bright colour all over.
  2. Try different shades of red. I am sure there is one for you. ( I have referenced some common shaded at the end of the article)
  3. Start wearing it for a special occasion and later you can graduate to regular wear.
  4. Don’t overthink while wearing loud colours pretending everyone would notice you or you might get overly conscious.
  5. Dress for yourself, not to impress others.
  6. Most importantly, choose a comfortable outfit as you already trying to move out of your one comfort zone.
  7. Go shopping with your best friend. She will never misguide you.

Our Honeymoon Trip to Thailand

Hey Peeps! December is around the corner and this time of the year reminds me of my wedding solemnised two years ago. Following the wedding we went for honeymoon to Thailand covering 3 cities – Bangkok, Krabi and Phuket.

I love travelling and on top of that I love shopping. So, my husband and I decided to travel to the shopping hub of south east asia – it was that simple a decision! Besides, I did remember reading in an article that Phuket is Priyanka Chopra’s favourite holiday destination. So I was definitely longing to experience the beaches of this famous city. So out we went on a 7 nights and 8 days trip.

Day 1 & 2 – Bangok

Honeymoon Thailand Decemeber- Namrata- Bangalore based Indian travel & lifestyle blogger

We had organised the trip without help of a travel agent and we got our Visa and immigration done on arrival at the Suvarnabhoomi airport. The whole process was staightforward but a bit tiring as we had stepped out for the airport at Kolkata at around 7 a.m and reached hotel in Bangkok by 4.30 p.m local time (6 p.m IST).

We wanted to take it easy on the first day so we just went to a restaurant near our hotel at Nana, Sukhumvit. In the night we explored the local market and then went to party at JW Marriot (It was at a walking distance from our hotel).

The next morning, post breakfast we decided to feed my shopping bug. I wanted to buy bikinis, dresses, tops, accessories and lots more. So we landed in “Platinum Mall” which is the biggest (It spans 6 floors with hundreds of shops and scores of eateries) flea market in Bangkok.

I shopped crazily there till the time I was left with no cash literally. And then I realised you need to carry ample amount of cash if you are going to local market/flea market.

Tip : Local markets in Thailand prefer cash transactions. Get an ample amount of currency exchanged beforehand. Drawing cash from an Indian card from an atm incurs around Rs 500 fee per transaction.

Day 3 & 4 – Krabi

Honeymoon Thailand Decemeber- Namrata- Bangalore based Indian travel & lifestyle blogger

We took an Air Asia flight from the old (Don Meaung) Bangkok airport to Krabi. The city center is well connected to the airport through half hourly shuttles and regular cabs.  We had booked in to Vogue Resort at Ao Nang, Krabi. The resort architecture is definitely a feast for tired eyes. It is tastefully done in wood and clay tiles exuding an old world charm.

Krabi is the most beautiful city I have experienced. The beach was at walkable distance from our resort and we took a leisurely stroll in the evening. The street was replete with souvenir shops, live music bars and cocktail counters. We grabbed our cocktails and left for the beach. Yes, these pics with the beautiful lights at the backdrop are taken on street. What an evening it was.

Tip: The beach side shacks in Krabi are not actually on the beach but at a safe distance across the road,  unlike Goa

The next day we decided to go for 7 Island sunset tour. I simply cannot put down in words the heady mix of serenity and exhilaration I felt in that ferry ride. We experienced a mesmerizing sunset with a stopover at Phi Phi island followed by a barbecue dinner.

By the time we reached back to resort it was 7.30 pm. Again, taking it easy after a strenous day, we went  to explore nearby market and shop a little. The local market over there is expensive compared to Bangkok. But street food is awesome and I did not stop. We tried so many BBQ dishes and cocktails.

Day 6 & 7 – Phuket

We took a ferry from Krabi to Phuket as it was quicker than by road. The ferry was reasonably upscale with airconditioned cabins, cafeteria with food and drinks on board. Still, like many, we spent our travel time on the deck soaking in the awesome view of Phang Nga Bay.

We checked in to Palmyra Resort in Phuket. Oh!  I wanted to explore the city so bad. We went to the Tiger Park, Patong street and then partied the night away at Seduction on the walking street.

Thailand Honeymoon itinerary - Namrata- Bangalore based Indian travel & lifestyle blogger

Well, that evening we realised we were not getting clicked together and got ourselves a  selfie stick. Besides, we didn’t have a DSLR then so the pictures are of low quality.

Thailand Honeymoon itinerary - Namrata- Bangalore based Indian travel & lifestyle blogger

There is a hint of regret, however, I am happy that I came back with memories to last a lifetime.

Tip: Phuket is fit for an adrenaline fuelled wild beach vacation. Krabi, being just the opposite is pleasantly laid back and fit for a romantic beach vacation.

Day 7 – Bangkok

Thailand Honeymoon itinerary - Namrata- Bangalore based Indian travel & lifestyle blogger

Remember my shopping was due because of lack of cash. I had got my currency exchanged on Phuket airport to shop in Bangkok’s local market and this time I was not in a mood to stop. We purchased few cool stuffs for our home decors too. The city is full of creativity.

Holiday Thailand December - Namrata Bangalore based Indian Lifestyle & Travel Blogger

Then finally we went to Onyx, night club. We enjoyed the EDM crazily it being the last day of our honeymoon.

P.S. I wasn’t a blogger then and I haven’t clicked pictures of lots of places as we use to enter those places without our camera and phone.

Small tips:

  • Plan your trips expense in advance and carry ample amount of cash. There are so many currency exchange booth who do not accept Indian currency.
  • ATM transaction charges are really high. I would have bought 2 tops in that amount every time I drew money.
  • If you are not habituated of spicy food, ask the chef to tone it down or try McDonalds or order continental. You might find Indian restaurant too.
  • Carry your essential gadgets like camera, power bank, portable speaker, selfie stick etc. If you plan to get them in Bangkok, head to Pantip Plaza, a quick walk from Platinum Mall.
  • In case you need any help, ask locals. Thai people are very helpful and generous.
  • Do your own research before making any bookings. Everyone has his/her preference so plan your trip accordingly.
  • Thailand has an abundance of 7/11 and they are open 24/7. In case you need any medicine, food or almost anything, head to the nearest one.
  • You should take the metro in Bangkok. Commuting becomes much easier, cheaper and faster.
  • You need bargaining skill to shop in local market. After all, it’s a bargain hunter’s paradise.
  • Carry your skin care essentials if your skin is too sensitive like me. Otherwise you can try their skin care range. Few of them are awesome. In fact, I tried their detaning pack and it worked for my skin.

Lingerie shopping struggle ft. Myntra

Hey Peeps! How are you? I have been writing a lot about fashion, trends and styling different looks. However, I realised that I have never discussed on the kind of lingerie to use with a particular outfit or where can we go lingerie shopping.

It’s not that I am shy to discuss it. Probably it never struck my mind that there are girls who still struggle to find the right shape, size and kind of lingerie for themselves. With the help of this blog, I would try to sort this problem for you lovely ladies out there.

Know Your Size Right

Lingerie shopping struggle- Namrata- Bangalore based Indian fashion and lifestyle blogger

If you are still struggling to find your size or feel that you wear the wrong size often then the first thing you got to do is know your right size. Many of us are not sure about cup sizes. Girls with small bust size or heavy bust often feel shy to buy their right size.

To find your bra size, you’ll need a tape measure and your best-fitting bra (preferably an underwire, not a minimizer or sports bra).

  1. Measure your band size

Wearing your bra, take a snug measurement around your ribcage, directly under your bust and level all around. If you get an odd number, round up to the next even number.

  2. Measure your bust size

Take a loose measurement over the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level around your body. If needed, round up to the nearest inch.

  3. Calculate your cup size

Subtract your band size from your bust size, and use the difference to find your cup size on the bra size chart below.

BUST
MINUS BAND DIFFERENCE
US CUP SIZES EUROPEAN UK
less than 1″ AA AA AA
1″ A A A
2″ B B B
3″ C C C
4″ D D D
5″ DD/E E DD
6″ DDD/F F E
7″ DDDD/G G F
8″ DDDDD/H H FF
9″ DDDDDD/I I G
10″ J J GG
11″ K H
12″ L HH
13″ M J
14″ N JJ
15″ K

Cup Size Reality

I have noticed girls asking for size 32 bra if they are slim and 36 if they are curvy. And when the shopkeeper asks about cup size they are clueless and give a hypothetical answer. Never do that. Always know your size never buy on assumption.

  • A cup size- Small
  • B cup size- Average
  • C cup size- Slightly bigger than average
  • D cup size- Big
  • Anything above D is enormous

Ladies with bigger bust size need to be more careful while shopping lingeries. The bulge in arm or bust looks inappropriate.

Can we shop lingerie online?

Lingerie shopping struggle- Namrata- Bangalore based Indian fashion and lifestyle blogger

If you know your size right, online shopping is the best. I love shopping my lingerie online for 2 reasons.

  1. You have lots of options
  2. You get a better deal than malls

How to choose the perfect Bra?

Lingerie shopping struggle- Namrata- Bangalore based Indian fashion and lifestyle blogger

We girls love to flaunt our outfits. Being an Indian woman, I love wearing all kind of outfits. One style of Bra is not enough for all my outfits. If you are someone who loves to try out the different style of outfits. Do buy your lingerie which suits that particular outfit.

Different Styles

Did you know that there are more than 50 styles of Bra available? Yes, probably we cannot afford to have them all. I am going to share few which I own and they are my saviour.

  • T-shirt Bra– This is a must-have bra for all women I feel and for me, It’s the most comfortable form of  bra. I wear casual outfits mostly and I use it for everyday purpose.

Lingerie shopping struggle- Namrata- Bangalore based Indian fashion and lifestyle blogger

  • Sports Bra–  If you go to a gym, don’t dare to step into the gym in your regular bra. Even if you workout at home or are into Yoga, make sure you match the level of support for the activities you do.

Lingerie shopping struggle- Namrata- Bangalore based Indian fashion and lifestyle blogger

  • Push up Bra– If you have the small bust and you want to flaunt your cleavage you should go for a push-up bra. This is certainly not meant for girls with heavier bust size.

Lingerie shopping struggle- Namrata- Bangalore based Indian fashion and lifestyle blogger

  • Stick on Bra– This is something I love in my closet. This season off-shoulder outfits were everywhere and it’s still trendy towards the end. I find a stick on bra/silicon bra more comfortable than a transparent strap bra. It’s all about comfort. So, if you are more comfortable with straps go for the former option.

Lingerie shopping struggle- Namrata- Bangalore based Indian fashion and lifestyle blogger

  • Bandeau– If you are not wearing a backless outfit and want to give little support to your silicon bra, you can opt for a bandeau. Girls with small busts can actually wear it directly.

Lingerie shopping struggle- Namrata- Bangalore based Indian fashion and lifestyle blogger

  • Leisure/sleep Bra– These bras are meant for slumber times. It’s very much comfortable and gives an almost braless feeling. I make it a point to carry my leisure bra to tropical areas. They are breathable and helps to feel relaxed even in humid weather.

Lingerie shopping struggle- Namrata- Bangalore based Indian fashion and lifestyle blogger

They are many more styles/kinds of the bra. I am certainly not super rich to own all the styles. If you feel the same as me, move to online shopping. Just like I did. I have always been a Myntra girl. In fact, I have been shopping on Myntra since the time it was launched.

If you need in-depth review or blog on any particular topic under lingerie. Feel free to ask. In case you are shy to comment. Please DM me on my Instagram profile.

Gift Ideas For this Christmas

Hey Peeps! How have you been? I am super excited about my second wedding anniversary approaching soon and might have a surprise up the sleeve (still going over the drawing board).

But naturally I’m in the mood to receive and give gifts. On top of that, Christmas has always been about Secret Santas and getting the right stuff to gift. Today’s post will be all about gift ideas for Christmas 2017.

Everyone loves gifts, don’t we? I love getting plus gifting as well. For me, gifting is not a ritual or rule to be followed. But there is one thing for sure, I love adding a personalised touch to my gifts. I always prefer DIY gifts but due to lack of time I have moved to off the shelf personalised gifting.

I feel I should introduce a few brands which I have come across in the search for personalised gifts.

Archies Online

Namrata - Bangalore based Indian Lifestyle Blogger

During my childhood, Archies was the brand if you were out for droolworthy gifts. I still remember I was in the 2nd grade when Archies started merchandising in my town. My dad took me there as we had been invited to the inauguration and I could not help myself from getting a stack cards and posters that I wanted to gift to my school pals.

Throwback Studio

Namrata - Bangalore based Indian Lifestyle Blogger

I recently got introduced to throwback studio in my search for a memorable mini album for us. Just could not resist and I have already ordered one for myself and would surely order more.

I can’t disclose the real fun now but the one I have ordered is to be gifted. To get this photobook, all I had to do is download THROWBACK STUDIO app on my phone, upload the pics, feed the address and make the payment.

It didn’t even take me 10 minutes to complete the procedure.

Mahi Leather

Mahi - Genuine Leather Bags - Namrata - Bangalore based Indian Fashion Blogger

I have already shown my love towards Mahi Leathers on my Instagram page. The bags definitely look crafted with fine workmanship and this is the path to tread if you’re in the mood to splurge a bit.

And the one I have ordered is a gift to self this Christmas. My husband has shown interest in their bags as well as they look built to last a lifetime. The best part is that most of the bags are gender neutral. So, I decided to go for something which both of us could use.

Printland India

Namrata - Bangalore based Indian Lifestyle Blogger

If you have got something particular in mind, you should try Printland India.Go to their personalised gift section and you will find thousands of well thought products. You can even get a pen drive personalised for your loved ones. That’s something I have lost multiple times in college. When it’s personalised it’s easy to track. Don’t you think so?

These are the few brands I stumbled upon while my search for unique gift ideas online. As I had earlier mentioned, you could gift yourself as well. You are worth it!

I am a big-time online shopper. I have probably shopped from many other brands as well. These are few brands who are always in my mind. Especially, Archies being childhood love and Mahi leather is a new crush.

Do let me know what are your ideas for personalised gifting.

Are you being a slave to fashion trends?

Hey Peeps! Winter is coming for 2017! I usually get picked out on my shopping behaviour and branded as a shopaholic. I do shop often, there is. no doubt about it! But I don’t become a slave to fashion trends.

As I always say a trend is not a hard and fast, it has been started by someone. And followed by many. So, if I don’t follow a trend, does that mean my fashion sense is run-of-the-mill or I have no rights to be known as a fashion blogger?

Turtle neck - Namrata- Bangalore based fashion blogger

Today’s post is going to be all about the basics I have in my closet and how I style them depending on an occasion. I got turtleneck top by Zara in the month of October and till date, I have styled the same top in multiple ways.

Probably it’s my most comfortable top for this season. I love to style myself in a minimal fashion. Believe me, you can create drama with minimal as well.

Second favourite of this season is my Levis 711 jeans. Which is seriously meant for my body. I love the way it fits me.

Denim Went Wrong

Turtle neck - Namrata- Bangalore based fashion blogger

If I mismatch my look completely like how I have done in this look does that look crazy? Well, for some people it does. They say it politely,“It’s different”. That’s the point. You need not follow the trend each and every time. You can pair different outfits like me.

Turtle neck - Namrata- Bangalore based fashion blogger

I have paired the printed turtleneck top with dark blue jeans, powder blue denim jacket and peach boots. So be your own fashion creator as long as you are comfortable in your attire.

Turtle neck - Namrata- Bangalore based fashion blogger

Peplum top or Tunic?

Turtle neck - Namrata- Bangalore based fashion blogger

There was this peplum top lying in my closet from my brother’s wedding shopping. I have not used this top ever since. Just by layering the peplum top over a turtleneck top gives me the feel of a tunic. It’s it pretty?

Turtle neck - Namrata- Bangalore based fashion blogger

Blazer of dreams

Turtle neck - Namrata- Bangalore based fashion blogger

Although I am trying to try out different colours this autumn/winter, I end up settling for black. So every season I see a Colour of the Season. I mean really? So, can’t I wear that colour the next season? I can’t resist myself from wearing black whether the fashion gurus endorse it for a season or not.

Incomplete Leather Story

Turtle neck - Namrata- Bangalore based fashion blogger

My long leather boots are indeed incomplete without my all time favourite black leather jacket. Whatever you settle for, leather jacket is always the best option.

Turtle neck - Namrata- Bangalore based fashion blogger

His Shirt

Turtle neck - Namrata- Bangalore based fashion blogger

And if you have nothing to wear, his closet is always open for you. Just steal the best.

My husband has this denim shirt which he barely uses and I love it. So, just stole it. Maybe he doesn’t wear it anymore because it’s not his anymore!

Turtle neck - Namrata- Bangalore based fashion blogger

So, these were few cover ups underlying my closet and I used them for an autumn/winter look. If you have similar minimals and basics in your closet just play with them and share the looks with me. I would love to see you wearing them.

Until Next time, stay awesome!

Maxi Dress for a Date

Hey Peeps! How have you been? It’s a great feeling to get such an amazing response to the Instagram story where I had asked whether should I blog about this maxi dress look or not.

I am overwhelmed with the love you all showed over there. Ironically there is one person who has been saying no to many of my posts. I mean it’s okay if you don’t like me or my styling. You are always welcome to unfollow me.

It’s all about personal choice. I, in fact, know that person would read my blog. I get her comments too. Do not worry my dear haters I always welcome criticism. It helps me grow. See I give you so much importance that I have mentioned you on my blog.

Leaving that one person, I want to share maximum details I can about my maxi dress by All About You and makeup details.

You can have the cake and eat it too!

My makeup and hairstyle was done by Vandana of Bronze Beauty Blush fame for this ethnic shoot. Post the shoot, I came down and I was feeling so pretty.

Maxi dress for a date- Namrata-Bangalore based Indian fashion blogger

I had never applied eyelashes prior to this. Having this as my first experience I wanted to show the same to my spouse on how beautiful was I feeling.

Somewhere I have read “Whoever is happy will make others happy too”. So I decided to go on a quick date with my husband. But, I did not want to go in the outfit I was wearing for the shoot. After a hectic schedule, I wanted to go in a relaxed outfit without losing the glam on my face.

Maxi dress for a date- Namrata-Bangalore based Indian fashion blogger

I decided to wear the most comfortable maxi gown lying in my closet. I was not in a mood to overdo with layering or overly styling the outfit. My maroon maxi dress itself was complete with all I wanted to have for an easy evening.

Having quality time is important

We, women, are infamous for spending lots of time in front of the mirror. Simply because we want to look good, feel good and be pretty.

Maxi dress for a date- Namrata-Bangalore based Indian fashion blogger

I feel we all should have a few outfits in our closet which are effortless and can be thrown upon in no time for quick dates. Maxi dress is meant for those easy evenings when we want to relax with our loved ones and have quality time together.
